On the nature of socialism, libertarianism and anarchy

Socialism is diametrically opposed to libertarianism and anarchy.

Socialism, as its name implies, places an emphasis on the greater good of a group as a whole even if it infringes upon the rights of an individual.

Libertarianism is, however, characterised by emphasis on individual liberties as opposed to social good.

Anarchy can be viewed as an extension of libertarianism, in a manner of speech. both emphasise on individuality. indeed, some people say libertarianism is but anarchy for rich people.

Personally, i strongly do not believe in socialism. true, humanity may be required to work in societies. the question is, who decides the composition of these societies? and who decides the leaders of the societies. if power is concentrated in the hands of a few select individuals, these individuals are bound to abuse their powers to push their own agendas. where would the checks be to make sure they do not abuse their power? to extend it even further, let me give an example scenario.

imagine there's an issue. issue x. people disagree on issue x. let's say 1/4 don't agree and 3/4 agrees. so if you go from a socialist standpoint, you have to abide by the majority. so 1/4 of the people will end up unhappy. what can they do? they can sit there and suffer. they can't do anything else.

that is the fallacy of socialism, as well as democracy. democracy is, at essence, just an umbrella term for any political system that involves participation of the people in choosing the governing process. so even if the people's only election of the year is to choose the colour of the toilet tiles in parliament, this too is theoretically democracy.

So what should the 1/4 do? well i say let the 1/4 do things their own way, even if (or maybe especially if) it upsets the 3/4 obsessive-compulsive about uniformity. you can't compromise. compromise is a weak solution that does not solve anything. neither problem is solved. it just leads to a halfway measure for both.
